Aristotle’s big mistake

Its relation with the Church

Aristotle studied with Plato for twenty years. He thought that Plato’s world of perfect forms wasaristotle perfect nonsense and these perfect forms were part of life, not apart from it. Studying nature convinced him that everything was striving towards its own unique form of perfection.he knew that all acorns were potential oak trees, even though many landed on barren soil. He also knew that a duck’s egg would never hatch into an eagle. Aristotle was a great organizer. He looked at the chaotic jumble of creation and tried to sort it into tidy piles. His aim was to categorize all areas of human knowledge. Continue reading

The fate of Sicilian philosopher, “Empedocles”

empedoclesEmpedocles came from Sicily. He disagreed that there was one basic ingredient to the universe. He said reality boiled down to the simplest parts of the four elements (fire, air, earth, and water). all change could be explained by the coming together and falling apart of these elements. He said that there are two basic forces in nature that cause this–love and strife. Love bring things together and strife tears them apart. This idea explained both how things can change and how the world remains the same.

His theory of evolution was that only the strong survived. Sadly, he didn’t survive a jump into Mount Etna. He dived into a volcano to prove he was a god and burned to a crisp.

Is a computer virus alive?

computer virusMany philosophers use issues like computer viruses to question what life really is. there are many similarities between a computer virus and a human virus. a computer virus can spread from computer to computer, just as the flu, for instance, can spread from person to person. A computer virus can lie in a computer without being active, just as a person can have a virus and not be aware of it. Continue reading

Quotes from the book: “The practice of philosophy,” A handbook for beginners, by: Jay F. Rosenberg.

Sad to say that: “One rather reaches the limits of what is teachable.”

You can teach someone how to look, but not how to see; how to search, but not how to find. Critical acumen and creative originality cannot be taught. At best they can be nourished, enhanced, and matured. And for that, just two things have been found to help: familiarity with the lay of the land and practice, practice, practice. Both take time and discipline. To gain familiarity, there is no substitutive for extensive reading; to gain practice, no substitutive for extensive writing.

Dating a Thai nymph

nymphet-161x300[1]It’s wrong to say “my friend”, better to say Daniel’s. Sijitra was actually a child-lover petite lady whom Daniel, my 2-year boy, was interested in like his own mother. They found each other in the neighboring park where every other evening I was strolling Daniel to meet up with his playmates. She seemed bright and upbeat person trying to please others when I first met her. Her magic chemistry, more importantly, her caring towards the baby, had already won dad’s heart as well. Since she was fond of my son and so I was of her, no doubt I would manage to make my park going a regular program to meet her pretty often. However, despite her relation with Daniel, our personal relation never matured and went on as plain as its start until last week. Continue reading
